My fans have been incredibly supportive and so have my family, particularly in recent weeks and that’s made a big difference.

Lewis sets a benchmark for himself

Focusing
After a comfortable second place in yesterdays qualifying session, Lewis looks to better his team-mate Jenson Button today at Monza; in order to push himself further in this years Formula One Championship.

"I have always said that if a team-mate does a better job then I need to do an even better job," observed Hamilton. "Jenson has done a better job for a period of time but he is fantastic driver so it is to be expected. He's in a very, very good place, he is driving well, getting results, is consistent. I can do it, I just need to start doing it again."

With all this being said Lewis and Jenson are the strongest team-mates out there and we all know this is not just becuase of thier racing skills, but because they are ginuwinely good pals off track.

Lewis, Spa and Kobayashi

Lewis crashes
A fun packed weekend showing off DRS and Kers ended by the 14th lap for Lewis Hamilton.
I watched on in horror as Lewis flew through the advertising barrier and then cruised into the tyre wall. He was still for a moment and I was so worried for his safety but this was just him 'winded' according to the BBC.

After the Maldonado incident (read post below), I thought Lewis would have digged himself out of the trouble ditch and gone on to challenge for a podium finish. But I was wrong and it seems Lewis' season is just plagued with bad luck and all we can do as fans is to get behind him.

Kobe Strikes
Although I respect Lewis for coming out and blaming himself for the crash I dont share his views on who was to blame. I believe Kobayashi WAS at fault, why?, because as Martin Whitmarsh explained to Eddie Jordan, Kobayashi clearly hit his back tyre and used excessive force at the same time.

Anyway thats my opinion, anyone agree?.

Good luck Lewis at Monza from LHamilton Blog

Lewis Qualifies Second at Spa Belgian GP

Always In Contention
After a close shave with Pastor Maldonado in Q2, Lewis put in a brave performance in Q3.
Hamilton put in a 1m48.730s but was just 4 tenths (and a bit) off Vettel 1m48.298s. He did this time on his last attempt in Q3 and secured him a great position for tomorrows clash at Spa. His car showed war wounds but this wasn't enough to stop our Lewis. He also locked up on his last lap which shows he could have matched Vettels pace and gives us a great race on hand for tomorrows GP.

Great fun to watch live on tele as Mark, Lewis and Vettel were all lined up respectively throughout the session. This gave us the viewers a great perspective to see instantly which of the three was setting the pace.

Congrats to Lewis and good luck from us @LHamiltonBlog

Maldonado Clips Hamilton In Qualifying at Spa

Maldonado 'Swipe'

As Lewis Hamilton brushed past Pastor Maldonado to clich his place in Q3. He made the Williams driver tick and Lewis was entitled to pass Maldonado but this trigger an angry move from Pastor.

As Lewis slowed down, Pastor quickly gained on him and cut across Lewis' path and ripped Hamiltons front wing off and always ended his chance of racing in Q3.

Whitmarsh was surprised and described the incidicent between his driver and the Williams : "Suddenly Maldonado chopped across him and he could easily have taken Lewis out of qualifying. We were lucky to be able to get Lewis back out there. We changed the front wing but I don't think we should be saying he would have been on pole. It was an inconvenient incident."

Lewis' car luckily was repaired thanks to the swift action from the Mclaren engineers. Huge scrages across Hamiltons bodywork were visible and may have cost him pole position for tomorrows F1 GP at Spa.

Did Lewis lose pole because of Maldonado?

Tell us your thoughts.

Fighting For Title

LEWIS HAMILTON can still win the driver’s world championship, according to McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh.

Whitmarsh is of the opinion that as the Formula One campaign enters it’s crucial second phase, that Hamilton and team mate Jenson Button have a chance to overhaul championship leader Sebastien Vettel of Red Bull.
Ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix on August 28, the Red Bull driver is 88 points ahead of Hamilton and 100 ahead of Button.

But Whitmarsh believes Hamilton is fired up sufficiently to seriously challenge Vettel now that the Briton has a winning car following a season full of ups and downs.

Whitmarsh said of Hamilton: "I think the positive is that his head's now in a great place, because he suddenly believes he can win, and there's lap-time in that.”

"I think Lewis desperately wants to win. I think he's tough on himself. He still takes too much to heart what's said in the media. He has a little bit too much sensitivity about that. But he will learn.

“At the same time he is a young man, he gets a lot more attention, a lot more pressure, a lot more expectation.

"We are trying to help, we are trying to work with the media. I'm probably a bit more cynical than Lewis, but at the same time I probably don't get quite the battering that Lewis usually gets."

Hamilton cool on Ferrari switch

Ferrari Team Principal Stefano Domenicali had earlier revealed that the team could look to sign the Briton despite having Spain’s Fernando Alonso locked into a long-term deal, which ends in 2016, while Felipe Massa’s contract runs till the end of 2012.

Lewis had this to say when asked about joing Ferrari.

“At the moment I don’t have any such plans, it’s not something I feel that I have to do,” he said. “But we’re talking about a fantastic team and you never know what could happen in the future.”
The former world champion also credited Alonso for helping him become a better driver during his time at McLaren.
“Alonso is a fast pilot, with talent and incredible speed. I learned a lot and improved my driving thanks to him.”

Great to see Lewis pay tribute to Alonso even though Fernando has caused Lewis a few headaches.

Lewis Post Race Comments

Optimistic

Lewis Hamilton was surprisingly optimistic about today's race and treated his 4th position as a positive and also gave his team some credit although they put they looked to have gave him the wrong strategy .

Lewis was quick to give credit to Jenson for winning the Hungarian GP.

"Congratulations to Jenson, he was pushing me hard the whole race and the better man won today," the 26-year-old conceded.

“He did a fantastic job and congratulations to the team.

“I think we can definitely say, the team have done a fantastic job and for us to both be the most competitive this weekend I think is a fantastic way to go into the break.

"Of course we would have loved a one-two, I feel like I let the team down a little bit, but we'll bounce back at the next race."

“We've now won two races in the space of a week, which is a great way to enter the summer break.

“I'm disappointed in myself for spinning. I had to do a doughnut to get myself facing the right way and that forced Paul onto the grass, which is why I got the drive-through penalty.

“I've apologised to Paul and I'll put the penalty behind me and move on to the next race at Spa-Francorchamps.”

Lewis Falls to 4th In Hungarian GP

Unlucky Day For Lewis

After last weeks amazing display Lewis was on form and everybody tipped Lewis to shine at Budapest.
The beginning of the race was intense with a cloud of uncertainty surrounding the weather conditions. Lewis had a great opening 10 laps and soon passed Vettel. Button kept Lewis on his toes throughout but Mclaren had to do something strategic because of others teams changing compounds. So they put Hamilton on the Super-Soft tyres and Button on the longer lasting prime/hard/yellow stripe tyres.

It was a big gamble and only one of the guys was going to come out victorious.

Buttons strategic was working and he gained on Hamilton and Lewis soon lost grip on his worn Super-Soft tyres.  After that point Lewis struggled throughout the race and dropped to 6th. He climbed to 4th in the closing stages of the race.

Lewis Hamilton Qualifies Second In Todays Hungarian GP Qualifier

Comfortable 2nd Place

In todays Qualifier round 3, Lewis Hamilton was on pace and pole in his first run and was looking like cementing down a pole position going into tomorrows Hungarian GP. Lewis put in a blistering 1m 19.978s in Q3.

This was slightly hindered by Vettels next run out on the track. To the dissappointment of all the Mc claren team he put in an outstanding time of 1m 19.815s to put him on pole for the Hungarian GP.

I was very happy with Lewis' performance and would have taken second place before todays qualifying session. So this leaves all us Lewis fans with an exciting race for tomorrow.

Vettel On Pole, But can he stay there?

Lewis Hamilton Happy With Todays Pace:

"It's great to see the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team with both cars on the front two rows - it's a sign that there's real pace here now. Everyone in the team is doing a fantastic job and we were genuinely competitive today.
"At one stage during Q3 I was up: I had half a tenth in reserve. But then I went a little bit wide, which triggered a big over-steer moment, and the result was that I lost that crucial bit of time. But the points aren't given out for today, and I'm feeling good about tomorrow.
"I'm very excited about the race, in fact, because we had quite a good long run yesterday and we'll work hard to build on that pace overnight and take it into tomorrow. We're in the fight – and, with a good start, we can definitely challenge for the win."

Lewis Post Race Interview

German GP Winner Hamilton

Lewis put in a hell of a performance yesterday and many of us english Lewis fans back at home were left in scenes of joy. In a post race interview Lewis described how the race unfolded;

"We really never expected to come here this weekend and be anything like so fast," said the McLaren driver.

"We were hindered in the last race a little bit but the guys did a fantastic job, really pushing very hard.

"The engine was great and I just feel great. It was one of the best races I've ever done."

Hamilton insisted it was not only the cold temperatures that had made it possible for McLaren to beat Red Bull and Ferrari.

"I don't think it's just the conditions," said the Briton, who fought back tears after the race at the Nurburgring.
"Mark Webber, me and Fernando Alonso were all within one tenth of a second of each other lap after lap."

Lewis On Overtaking Alonso

"It felt great - and it's good to get some positive comments on my driving".
Obviously Lewis is delighted having comments put across praising his driving which has been a rare event in the last few months.

When mentioning hs pass on Fernando Alonso Lewis was extremely pleased and was quick to add,
"It was a difficult decision but I had the grip and he didn't get on the power as I thought he would have.

For all Lewis Hamilton fans that witnessed yesterdays German GP, it was such a great feeling seing Lewis pass his bitter former team-mate Alonso.

One thing I did notice that was after the race the top three were all having a chat but I noticed Alonso harldy acknowledged Lewis when spoken to. Anyone else notice this?.

Fantastic 1st Place For Lewis Hamilton

Winner

A fantastic race for the spectators spanning 1 hour and 38 minutes was the best one so far this year.
With Mark Webber struggling at the start of the race Lewis found inspiration straight from the start and pounched on a poor start to put himself first.

Alonso, Hamiltons arch rival was always creeping upto Lewis' car and took the lead of him  for a short period. Luckily Lewis found Alonso napping and caught him on corner 2 on the outside. David Caulthard regarded this as a deciding factor towards Hamiltons win today.

Hamilton celebrated on his team radio: "Great job guys, great job. Keep pushing, these are the results we can get, it's amazing."

Emotions looked high for Lewis near the end of the press conference and it great to see him back lloking ever-so more passionate about his work.

Lewis Hamilton 2nd place Reaction From Germany

Lewis : Surprising Speedo
Shocking not only himself but the rest of the world Lewis lets us all know what he thought of yesterdays fantastic qualifying session.

Lewis Hamiltons Q3 Lap In Germany

 'Wicked' Lewis
The underdog Lewis Hamilton showed fans at Silverstone he wasn't giving up on this years title without a fight. And behold, he didn't fail his fans in yesterdays qualification Q3.

Hamilton : Flying

With a convincing 2nd place in Q3 putting in a blistering 1:30.134. Lewis was thrilled with this result.

Lewis Hamilton Is On The Front Row For Todays Race In Germany

2nd Place : Lewis Hamilton (Right)

Yesterday Lewis Hamilton stunned the rest of the field with a blistering time of 1:30.134. This time shocked Red Bull and they only had Mark Webber who could beat this time. Vettel Had no answer on his last lap of Q3 and I doubt he would like to have used another pair of the super-soft tyres.

Before the qualification session people were ready to wield the axe on the Mclaren team and this was a result of disapointing previous grand prix's. Not only is Lewis about to put on a show today in Germany, but he could possibly turn the title race on its head and cause an upset in the Vettel camp.
